Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- GETTING READY TO ENJOY YOUR MASSAGE TO THE FULLEST
A one-hour massage with your therapist often ends too quickly. However, even if a massage doesn’t cure all your ills, preparing ahead of time can maximize your experience and all of its benefits. Here are some tips for your next massage.
Stay hydrated
Being well hydrated before massage is very important for the elimination of toxins that are released into the body’s circulation during treatment. Drinking water or herbal teas are excellent methods of staying hydrated. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, or any other stimulants.
Eat light
Although it may not bother your therapist, it can be uncomfortable if your stomach makes noise due to digestion. It is preferable to eat at least an hour before your massage or, if you are afraid of being hungry, eat a fruit or other food that is easy to digest.
Take a hot shower
A massage is a hands-on treatment during which your therapist massages your muscles and skin. Therefore, nothing better than feeling clean before giving yourself a massage. Yes, then you will have to take another shower to remove excess oil or gel, but the hot water in your body will also help relax your muscles.
Dress comfortably
Since an oil massage is applied to your skin, you might think that the clothes you wear are not important. However, wearing comfortable clothes will not only put you in a relaxed state before the massage, but will also keep you relaxed afterward. Shoes are no exception to this rule. Avoid high heels, as they can cause your leg muscles to contract unnecessarily.
Arrive early
Arriving 10 to 15 minutes before your massage will allow you to complete a health questionnaire without affecting your massage. You can also take a moment to go to the bathroom or have a glass of water if necessary. If you arrive at the last minute, out of breath and with your heart beating wildly, you will find it harder to relax during the massage.
Communicate your needs
Once you are ready for your treatment, your therapist will review your health questionnaire with you and ask you further questions if necessary. This is the time to tell your therapist everything: your preferences, needs, expectations, etc. Let your therapist know if you want him to pay special attention to a part of your body or to avoid a specific area. Let them know how much pressure you enjoy. Let them know what you don’t enjoy. The more you communicate your needs, the better your therapist can respond to them.
Relax during the massage
During your treatment, focus on your breathing, making sure to take long, deep breaths. This will help reduce stress and drive away negative thoughts. It takes almost no effort on your part. Your therapist will know very well how to lift your arm or head; Your help is not necessary!
Even when the massage is ongoing, let your therapist know your preferences or if you feel uncomfortable. By leaving nothing to chance, you will get the maximum benefits from your massage. Too hot, too cold; more or less pressure; bright or dim lighting; loud or low music; gel or oil; with or without essential oils… It’s your massage, you decide.
- 💍 Should I remove jewelry before the session?
Yes. Please remove all necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, smartwatches, or body jewelry before the massage. We recommend storing them safely in your bag or leaving them at home to avoid misplacing them. Removing jewelry also allows us to work freely on areas like the neck, shoulders, and arms without obstruction.
- 📵 Should I turn off my phone during the massage?
Yes, we kindly ask that all phones be turned off or set to airplane mode before your session begins. This helps maintain a calm and relaxing environment—for you and other clients. Disconnecting allows you to be fully present and enjoy the benefits of your massage without distractions.
- ⚠️ Are there conditions that make massage not recommended?
Yes, in some cases. That’s why we’ll ask you about your health history before your session. If you’re under medical treatment or have specific conditions (like blood clots, skin infections, recent surgeries, or uncontrolled blood pressure), we may need approval from your doctor. Your safety is always our priority.
- 💡 What are the benefits of massage?
Massage therapy can help:
- Relieve chronic pain and tension
- Improve blood flow and sleep
- Reduce stress, anxiety, and fatigue
- Improve posture and flexibility
- Boost your mood and mental clarity
It’s not just about pampering—it’s a powerful tool for your overall well-being.
- 🌞 How will I feel after my massage?
Most people feel relaxed, lighter, and often more flexible. Some clients notice pain relief immediately, especially with deep tissue techniques. You may feel a little tired at first, but later energized and more focused. Drinking water after your massage is always a good idea.
- 🧘 What should I do during the session?
Relax! You don’t need to do anything but enjoy the moment. You’re welcome to talk or stay quiet. If you ever want more or less pressure, need a break, or want to adjust the music or temperature—just let us know. Your session is all about you.
- 🧴 What types of massage do you offer?
At Body Melt Massage, we specialize in:
- Swedish Massage (Relaxing & Circulatory)
- Deep Tissue Massage (Therapeutic)
- Reflexology (Focused on Feet)
- Add-ons like Hot Stones, CBD Balm, Aromatherapy, Sugar Scrub, and more
We’ll guide you to the option that fits your needs best.
- 💆♀️ What does a massage feel like?
It depends on the style you choose. A Swedish massage is relaxing and gentle, using flowing movements to calm your body and reduce stress. Deep tissue massage goes deeper into the muscles to release knots and chronic tension. We use high-quality oils or lotions to reduce friction and keep your skin hydrated. You are encouraged to speak up at any time if something feels uncomfortable.
- ✋ Which areas are usually massaged?
Depending on the type of massage, a session may include your back, shoulders, legs, arms, feet, hands, neck, and scalp. If you have a specific area you’d like to focus on—or prefer to avoid—just let us know before we begin.
- 🛏️ Will I be covered during the massage?
Yes. You will always be properly draped with a clean sheet or towel. Only the part of your body being worked on is uncovered, and your comfort is always the priority.
- 🚪 Will the therapist be in the room while I undress?
No. You’ll always have privacy to undress and get on the massage table. Your therapist will step out while you get comfortable under the sheet and return once you’re ready.
- 👕 Do I have to take off all my clothes?
Only if you’re comfortable doing so. Many massage styles are done with the client undressed under a sheet, but you are always in control. You can keep on whatever clothing you feel safe with. We use professional draping techniques, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered during your session.
- 📍 Where will my massage take place?
All sessions at Body Melt Massage are offered in a clean, private treatment room located at our studio on 4300 Outer Loop, Suite 2, Louisville, KY. The space is designed for your comfort—with soft lighting, relaxing music (or your own, if you prefer), and a massage table specifically prepared to support your body and enhance your experience.

- Clients arriving 10 minutes late or more without notice will be considered a no-show and will be charged accordingly.
Thank you for respecting our time and helping us provide a smooth, professional experience for all our clients.
- 🧠 What’s the difference between Swedish and Deep Tissue massage?
Swedish massage is a relaxing, gentle technique that uses long, flowing strokes to reduce stress, improve circulation, and promote general relaxation. It’s perfect for first-time clients or anyone looking to unwind and disconnect.
Deep Tissue massage focuses on deeper muscle layers to relieve chronic tension, knots, and pain. It uses slower, firmer pressure and is ideal for clients dealing with muscle stiffness, injuries, or specific areas of discomfort.
Still unsure? We’ll help you choose the best option based on how you’re feeling and what you need most during your visit.
- 🕓 Do you accept walk-ins or same-day appointments?
We primarily work by appointment to ensure you receive the personalized attention and time you deserve. However, same-day appointments may be available, depending on the schedule. Walk-ins are not guaranteed, so we strongly recommend booking ahead online or via WhatsApp to reserve your preferred time.
